Instruction in Calm Abiding Meditation: A Foundational Meditation of Bon
Olmo Ling Bon Center, 1101 Greenfield Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217
Canceled
Join this four-week course to learn Calm Abiding Meditation. Meditation is a skillful way to peace, freedom and liberation. Meditation means becoming familiar with the true nature of the mind. We become familiar with the functioning of our mind, our conditioning and our dominant emotions. This enables us to take care of them. Meditation is the process of developing a harmonious connection between the physical, emotional and mental dimensions of our being.
There are many kinds of meditations from different traditions. Calm Abiding Meditation is a basic foundational meditation for those new to Bon. This meditation is the first phase of meditation in the Bon tradition and stabilizes the mind. These instructions for Calm Abiding Meditation are contained in the 10th chapter of the root text of Meton Sherab Woser, an 11th century Bon master.
In this course you will learn:
- A brief history of Bon
- Prerequisite requirements for meditation
- Nine breaths of purification
- Five-fold posture
- Calm Abiding Meditation
- How to overcome obstacles to meditation
- Nine stages of stabilizing the mind
Workshop costs: Olmo Ling members: $60, non-members: $65.
