Overview of the 2025 A Khrid Bon Dzogchen Cycle

We are excited that Tempa Dukte Lama will be offering the complete cycle of A Khrid Dzogchen teachings and transmission again this year. The Bon Dzogchen teachings are the highest teachings of Bon as they offer a means to directly recognize the true nature of the mind and attain stabilization of this recognition. This teaching series is a special opportunity to directly recognize the mind’s innate nature.

Bon has three Dzogchen lineages: A Khrid, Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyud, and Dzogchen. The A Khrid lineage is known as the experiential Dzogchen transmission. It has been transmitted without interruption from master to student over many centuries, dating back from the late His Holiness 33rd Menri Trizin to the Great Master rMe’u dGongs-mdzod Ri Khrod Chenpo (1038-1096), and before him to Tonpa Shenrab, the founding teacher of Bon. Tempa Lama received these teachings directly from the late His Holiness 33rd Menri Trizin in an extended one-on-one teaching.

Please Note: The A Khrid Teachings will be offered in five parts with Parts I-IV taking place this spring and Part V Powa to be offered in the winter after Tempa Lama’s return from Tibet. These teachings are meant to be attended in succession. Read more about the A Khrid Part II Teachings here, Part III here and Part IV here.

About A Khrid Part 1 (Session 5): Ngozhi

The A Khrid Part I teaching covers session 5 from the original A Khrid teaching and transmission given by Bon Dzogchen Master Gongzod Ritrod Chenpo (the first four sessions cover the preliminary practices of Ngondro). In this first part, Tempa Lama will first teach the history of the lineage transmission, Gyudrim and the view of Dzogchen as differentiated from the other two Bon Paths of Liberation, Sutra and Tantra. He will then focus on teaching Ngozhi, the actual practice of A Khrid Dzogchen through his vivid fresh understanding and experience. Through Ngozhi we build the stability of mind that we need to look directly at the nature of mind and recognize it. Ngozhi includes detailed practice instructions for meditation with an object (the Tibetan letter A), overcoming obstacles to practice, signs of progress, and finally the pointing out of the nature of the mind through searching the mind or Tsad Ched.

Participants will Receive:
  • Recordings of Each Teaching
  • Handouts Necessary to the Teaching
