Introduction to Tibetan Buddhist View and Practice

This course, taught by Tibetan Bon Buddhist teacher Tempa Dukte Lama will introduce Buddhist wisdom, its philosophy and practice. We will explore how we can develop qualities such as compassion, joy, wisdom and inner stability in ourselves. Buddhist view and practice will be exemplified with experiential practices, meditation, and illustrated with art and films.
Course outline:
1) What is Buddhism? What is Tibetan Buddhism? History and geographical spread of Buddhism and core Buddhist teachings.
2) ‘Opening the heart of the three jewels’: The Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
3) The practice of developing compassion.
4) Introduction to Meditation.
5) Buddhist teaching on death and dying (Tibetan Book of Death).
